Pool-Code Aluminum Fence Systems
Four flush-bottom styles engineered to meet BOCA/IRC pool safety codes. All arrive pre-assembled, 6' wide. We ship nationwide.
POOL CODE REQUIREMENTS
What does the pool code actually require?
BOCA code requirements for ornamental aluminum pool fencing. Always verify against your local jurisdiction
IRC / BOCA Compliance Checklist
Fence must be at least 48" (4 ft) tall — all Haven pool styles meet this
At least 45" between any two rails. Our pool styles are designed to this spec
Picket spacing must be less than 4", our standard 3-13/16" meets this requirement
Space between bottom rail and ground must be less than 4" — flush bottom eliminates this gap entirely
Gates must be self-closing and self-latching, opening outward away from pool
Latch opening mechanism must be at least 54" above ground
Code requirements vary by jurisdiction. Always check local code before ordering.
Flush vs. Modified Bottom
Flush bottom: The bottom rail fully encloses the bottom of the pickets. No pickets exposed below the bottom rail. Eliminates the bottom gap requirement entirely.
Modified/Standard bottom: The bottom rail is at standard position, leaving picket ends exposed below. Can be positioned to meet the less-than-4" ground clearance requirement, but more dependent on installation precision.
Heights for Pool Code
Pool code requires 48" minimum. Our pool styles are available in 48", 54", 60", and 72" heights. Most homeowners order 48" (4') as the standard pool-code height. 54" is common where local code or HOA requires above minimum. Custom heights available — ask when requesting a quote.

POOL · 3-RAIL · FLAT TOP
Haven
Three-rail flat-top design with a flush bottom rail that fully encloses the pickets at the base. The flush bottom eliminates the bottom-gap compliance concern entirely. This is the go-to pool fence style — clean, contemporary, and code-ready at 4' height.

POOL · 2-RAIL · FLAT TOP
Haven Lite
Two-rail flush-bottom configuration of the UAF-200 flat-top. Lighter construction than the Haven (UAB-200) — suited for straightforward pool perimeters where the simpler two-rail profile is appropriate and rail count is a cost consideration.

POOL · 3-RAIL · FLAT TOP
Haven Plus
Three-rail flush-bottom pool fence at 4-1/2' height. For jurisdictions or homeowners requiring more than the 48" standard minimum — adds 6" of height over the Haven without changing the profile or compliance characteristics.

POOL · 3-RAIL · INTERNAL SPEAR
Haven Guard
Flat top with ornamental spear pickets between mid and top rail in a flush-bottom, pool-compliant configuration. Pool code compliance without sacrificing the decorative internal spear detail. Top roofline remains flat.
GATE REQUIREMENTS
Pool gate specs
Every pool enclosure requires a compliant gate. These are the code requirements, we supply gates to match any of the four Haven styles.
Gate hardware (self-closing hinges, self-latching lockable hardware, drop rod for double gates) is included with gate orders. Specify pool use when requesting your quote so we configure correctly.
Closing Mechanism
Self-closing: gate returns to closed position automatically
Latch mechanism
Self-latching: gate latches automatically when closed
Swing direction
Must open outward, away from pool area
Latch height
Opening mechanism at least 54" above ground
Gate height
Same height as fence (48" minimum)
Picket spacing
Same as fence — less than 4"

Grandview Rail
Competitor Rail
Built Stronger. Built Smarter
WHY OUR RAIL IS DIFFERENT
Left: Typical competitor rail — thinner walls, fewer ribs, open bottom collects debris Right: Grandview Aluminum 8-rib rail
What you can't see is exactly what matters.
Most aluminum fence companies lead with the pretty top profiles. The rail is what actually determines how long your fence lasts. Ours on the right. Everyone else on the left.
Concealed Stainless Fasteners
8-Rib Heavy Duty Rail
Thicker Wall Aluminum
Painted stainless steel screws lock each picket into the rail. No exposed hardware to rust, back out, or corrode
Residential grade: .080" wall. Commercial: .088" wall. Cheap rails run .060" or less — they dent under impact and warp in temperature swings.
Our rail extrusion has 8 internal ribs that distribute load across the full rail width. Competitors use 3-4 ribs with thinner walls that flex and fatigue over time.
